A Victorian Christmas

Posted on December 23, 2009 at 11:00pm 0 Comments

Joe Matteo called me yesterday at 4:00 to say the Wilkes-Barre Kiwanis was having their Christmas party and they requested that I make an appearance. I was honored to be a part of the festivities and made several new friends. The Stegmaier Mansion B&B is decorated to the nines at Christmas!!

I wore a silk dress and hat from 1906, the year Mrs. Stegmaier owned the house. I was asked to read The Night Before Christmas so I took my 1836… Continue

19th Century Cemetery Photos For Halloween

Posted on October 30, 2009 at 1:00pm 0 Comments

I am a Taphophile. Someone who likes old cemeteries. The epitaphs, carvings and monuments are some of my favorite things to photograph. It is a great source when doing genealogy too. This week I visited my favorite haunt, our local cemetery. I went in late afternoon and captured sunny shots, sunset and stayed unti dark! (Don't worry a friend was with me so I was safe. :)

If you enjoy this subject and would like to see more-… Continue

Hi Victoriana Lady ... Thanks for your response !!! I will try to get to your facebook site , but I will have to find out how to do so ... I am not really adapted to some of the "new fangled things " on the internet ... I mostly use it to do research on items that I wish to know more about ... I realize thet the experience I related about the old cemetary seemed a little whacky , but nonetheless true ... Now , I can realize that the events most likely had a logical explanation , who knows ? At the time though I think it scared the tap out of my hophile !!! I had forgotten all that until I read your article ... Not trying to be personal , but your eyes have a lot of sadness in them ... Most would not see this , but with my artistic background , & my life's experiences , I do ... But don't so many of us ? God Bless & keep you ... Lane Styron

Hi Victoriana Lady ... Pics of cemetary are well taken ... If you really want something different , visit Bonaventure cemetary in Savannah ... You will see creepy statues with a background of Large oaks with long streamers of Spanish moss dancing in the wind ... I went there @ midnight with 2 friends ( as a teen , with caretaker permission ) , & we left rather quickly after seeing phosphoresent swamp gas globes floating over a brick pond , & especially after hearing a circular sound that seemed to emanate over the pond in increasing volumn . Sorry , there were no drugs or drinks involved ... Lane
